For over 50 years, Oakland County Veterans’ Services has provided services to veterans and their families residing in Oakland County.
Our experienced benefits counselors are dedicated to ensuring that the sacrifices of our nation’s veterans are recognized, and that they and their families receive all veterans benefits to which they are entitled. And in being a division of Oakland County Government, these services are provided free of charge.
With offices in both Pontiac and Troy, Oakland County Veterans’ Services operates as a walk-in service, on a first-come, first-serve basis. In addition to ensuring benefits to veterans and their families, our offices can also assist in veteran transportation to local VA medical centers, obtaining military discharge documents, employment opportunities for veterans (through Veteran Employment Representatives with Michigan Works!), and more.
For veterans looking to obtain an Oakland County issued Veteran Identification card– this one is for you! The Oakland County Clerk’s Office issues ID cards to veterans (at a cost of $10) who have their original military discharge papers (MUST show Honorable Discharge or equivalent status) and a valid driver license or state ID with their correct Oakland County address. Veterans may use this ID card to obtain discounts at many merchants in the area; merchants participate on a voluntary basis and not all are publicized, so do not hesitate to ask!
