Did you know you can easily and quickly purchase dog licenses from the Oakland County Animal Control and Pet Adoption Center? Better yet– you can purchase them online, too!
The State of Michigan requires all dogs over the age of 4 months to be current with the rabies vaccine and have a Michigan dog license. Failure to comply may result in a misdemeanor ticket. This is to help ensure the safety of both humans (owners included!) and dogs of all shapes and sizes.
Dog licenses must be purchased within 30 days of purchasing or acquiring a new dog, a puppy turning 4 months of age, owners becoming a Michigan resident, or the expiration date of the prior license.
There are multiple ways to purchase a license for your furry friend–
- by submitting your application form (along with a valid rabies vaccination certificate) to your city or township hall or a participating veterinarian
- mailing your application & vaccination certificate to our offices (Oakland County Animal Control and Pet Adoption Center, 1700 Brown Rd., Auburn Hills, MI 48326)
- or via our online system (available HERE).
Part of the mission of the Oakland County Animal Control and Pet Adoption Center is to protect public safety through the enforcement of applicable state laws– by having your dog(s) licensed, you’re helping to make our community a safer place for people & animals alike!
