Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson’s Count Your Steps program has completed its 10th year with a wild celebration at the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak!
Mr. Patterson started Count Your Steps in 2004 to encourage Oakland County kids to become active and make proper nutrition choices. This walking pedometer program is aimed at 3rd and 4th graders in Oakland County, and since its inception, more than 200,000 local students have logged more than 18 billion steps!
This year, more than 13,000 students from over 100 schools participated in Count Your Steps from April 8th – May 5th. Enjoy our recap video of this program’s amazing success!
